large world map posterA great way for kids to learn about the world around them is by looking at a large world map poster. It is much easier to teach a child when they enjoy the way the material is presented. There are several ways you can get your child to learn and have fun at the same time.

Hang a large world map poster in your child’s bedroom. Each night before bedtime you, the parent, should pick out one country that you will talk about and point out where it is on the map. An example would be for you to pick Holland and talk about the tulips that it is famous for. You have to do your homework in order to make this work. Quiz the child the next night.

You can use one of these maps in the same method as pin the tail on the donkey that is played at a child’s birthday party. Hang the map on a board and lean it against a tree in the yard. Tell the kids they have 5 minutes to study the location of the United States, England and France. Now blind one child at a time and let them pin the tail on the country. The one who is closest to one of the three countries get the prize.

A world map wall poster doesn’t necessarily have to hang on a wall. You can use it for gift wrap for birthday presents for the kids. You can use it to cover school books. You can cut one down to place mat size, laminate them, and have some very interesting place mats.

There are many uses for a world map poster. Think outside of the box and you can probably come up with a few more. Keep the kids interested and they will learn world geography and have fun doing it.
